Plant Health: PYTHOFF
Pythoff is needed in hydroponics for:
Sterilizing your nutrient solution and everything
the nutrient contacts e.g. substrate, plumbing, tank, channels.
Pre sterilizing raw water. This
helps prevent contaminated raw water entering your system.
Testimony from a grower: “No
more do I see signs of bad stuff in the tanks, like clouds of white slimy gack
floating around and collecting on the air stone. Since I started sterilizing my
nutrient with Pythoff my plants are just scorching along.” (Nick, NSW)
-
What is Pythoff?
Pythoff’s chemistry is based on “monochloramine”.
In chemical terms it is an 'oxidant'. Monochloramine is highly regarded by
water treatment specialists and is used world-wide for sterilizing town
water supplies. It is ideal for use in hydroponics because:
(1) Monochloramine has a
powerful sterilizin ability.
(2) It is a FULL spectrum
sterilizer.
(3) It has a long half-life.
Therefore, when the nutrient pump is operated, all plumbing, etc, can be
sterilized.
-
Pythoff
is harmless to the consumer:
Pythoff is not systemic which enables you to
safely dose throughout the fruiting period and also comply with ‘organic'
farming guidelines that prohibit the use of systemic chemicals.
-
System compatibility:
Pythoff is not suitable for sterilizing
organic substrates or nutrients that contain organic additives.
-
Shelf-life:
Use within 12 months of opening. Store in a cool, dark place (below 25oC
/ 77oF).
